Nicola Macmillan is a UK-based contemporary artist whose work centres on movement and instinct. Working in a language of expressive realism, she develops paintings that balance control and release, abstraction and form. Influenced by psychology, myth, and the natural world, her practice explores states of transition and becoming. Her work offers collectors pieces that are atmospheric, quietly powerful, and built for long-term, soulful resonance rather than immediate spectacle.

She mainly works with traditional mediums, layering acrylics, oils, and expressive mark-making to bring depth, movement, and feeling into each piece. She’s always chasing a mood, something heartfelt, a little offbeat, and full of intuitive energy.
